Laboratory Technician

  • Experienced Stack Testing Specialist, Gladstone QLD

    Reporting to the Operations Director, we are looking for a practical and motivated candidate to start up a field office in Gladstone / Rockhampton and use their management and specialist skills in stack testing/air monitoring.  Please be aware this position involves lifting heavy equipment and a considerable amount of travel to perform testing (travel allowance provided).  In addition for the first 3 months, there will be extensive training in Brisbane as these two offices will work closely together.

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    The successful candidate will possess experience in stack/emission testing and will be primarily responsible for:

    • Managing clients and all aspects of the relationship – quoting, scheduling, testing, equipment, and reporting of data.
    • Developing the client database.
    • Signing off test reports (NATA signatory)
    • Participation in and completion of tenders.
    • Supervision, training and mentoring of a field technician (to start approx. Jul 2021).

     

    ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE

    For candidates to be considered, they must have the following:

    • Stack testing experience.
    • Experience managing clients and handling multiple deadlines.
    • Knowledge of USEPA Methods 1, 2, 3A, 4, 5, 6C, 7E, 8, 10, 13, 17, 23, 25, 26, 29 and 201.
    • Knowledge of Australian regulatory framework in relation to air.
    • Knowledge and understanding of underlying principles of air monitoring.
    • Understanding of analytical principles.
    • Understanding of air monitoring analysers and associated technology.

     

    YOU MUST ALSO HAVE

    • A scientific mind with strong critical-thinking and analytical skills
    • Team player, with exceptional attention to detail
    • Excellent organisation and project management skills
    • Self-motivated, and able to work independently
    • Microsoft Excel and data management skills
    • Clear and concise communication skills

     

    In addition the successful candidate must:

    • Have a willingness to travel (estimated at an average of 8 nights away per month)
    • Have an Australian Drivers Licence (probationary licence is acceptable)
    • Be comfortable with working at heights
    • A general level of fitness and the ability to lift loads of 25kg.

     

    It is also essential that candidates are willing to expand their learning in environmental testing and keep abreast of new trends and regulations in the industry.

    This is a permanent position with an immediate start available and will suit a passionate and talented individual who is looking for the next step in their career.

    THE ROLE

    Reporting to the Operations Manager, we are looking for a practical and motivated candidate to join our Field team in Northern Sydney and fill the role of Air Monitoring Technician.  Please be aware this position involves lifting heavy equipment and a considerable amount of travel to perform testing (travel allowance provided).

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    The successful candidate will be trained in our safety, quality, sampling methodology and operational procedures and will be primarily responsible for:

    • measuring and performing air quality tests
    • associated preparation, cleaning, maintenance & calibration of equipment
    • analysing air quality data
    • troubleshooting testing issues
    • summarising data into relevant reporting formats
    • preparing JSA’s
    • Supporting Air Monitoring Consultants/Project Managers

    QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

    • Relevant work experience or a degree in a related discipline

    • A scientific mind with strong critical-thinking and analytical skills
    • Team player, with exceptional attention to detail
    • Self-motivated, and able to work independently
